Corporate finance, defense and capital markets expert to oversee finances in support of company’s mission to overcome the asymmetric challenges inherent to the future of national security.
Los Angeles, Calif—April 23, 2025—Epirus announced today that it has named Reed Werner, a renowned expert with over two decades of leadership in corporate finance, defense, and capital markets, the company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
“Reed brings a rare blend of expertise in financial management and national security to our executive team,” said Andy Lowery, Epirus CEO. “His work will be critical to the company as we hyperscale production of our Leonidas energy-based, high-power microwave technology platform. In today’s competitive defense technology landscape, we are fortunate to have a talent like Reed on the team.”
Werner brings a unique background and skillset to Epirus, having served in the Pentagon and throughout the highest echelons of the corporate finance world.

Werner was previously the CFO of ThayerMahan, a leader in uncrewed maritime defense technologies. His background includes investment banking at Goldman Sachs, where he advised on cross-border transactions and business strategy, and the U.S. Department of Defense, where he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for South and Southeast Asia from 2019 to 2021.
He serves as an advisor at Cerberus Capital Management, where he focuses on critical infrastructure and defense technology investments. Before entering the defense and finance sectors, Werner served as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve and completed two diplomatic tours in Iraq. He holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia Business School.
